In anticipation of her upcoming biography on Agnès Varda, “A Complicated Passion: The Life and Work of Agnès Varda”, legendary Philadelphia Film Critic, Carrie Rickey, will introduce the March 17th screening of LE BONHEUR and lead a post-screening discussion.

Film critic emerita of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Carrie Rickey served as a film critic and art critic at The Village Voice and as a member of the New York Film Festival selection committee. She contributed to Artforum, Art in America, American Film, and Film Comment. More recently, her work has appeared in The New York Times, Politico, Forward.com, and Hyperallergic. She has been a lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Drexel University and UPenn. Her forthcoming biography, A Complicated Passion: The Life and Work of Agnes Varda, will be released by Norton in August 2024. She is a recipient of a 2018 regional Emmy for producing Before Hollywood, the story of Philadelphia’s contribution to the evolution of motion pictures, and of the L.A. Press Club’s 2017 award for film criticism for a series published in Truthdig.com.
