When a soon-to-be-axed news anchor starts raving against systemic corruption and threatens to off himself on air, an ambitious producer decides it’s good TV and resolves to take the concept as far as it can go. Sidney Lumet’s prophetic media satire was nominated for nine Oscars (of which it won four).
