Propelled by the anxieties of impending fatherhood, David Lynch’s long-gestating cult classic ERASERHEAD follows Henry, a man surrounded by industrial gloom. After he discovers an earlier fling with girlfriend Mary left her pregnant, the two move in and raise the child together. Shot in Philadelphia, Lynch’s breakthrough feature film is a surreal and disquieting experience that’s only alleviated by the film’s idiosyncratic black comedy.
