Part biopic, part cinema-essay, this audacious new work from Academy Award-nominee Ava DuVernay (Selma, 13th) follows the intellectual journey of author Isabel Wilkerson as she develops the theory of human hierarchies that will form the basis of her bestselling book Caste: The Origins of our Discontents. “This film will get people thinking and talking,” wrote Variety. “Origin is a swirling tornado of ideas.”
