Scrambled in a Pre-Release Screening
December 27, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
1hr 40min
“At times, ‘Scrambled’ feels like a TV show, which isn’t a bad thing at all. In fact, it’s a compliment: the film has quick quips, good timing, and tight pacing mostly found nowadays in episodic structures.” – Samantha Bergeson, IndieWire
ABOUT
Local, hometown producer Grady Craig is offering Phoenixville a first-look opportunity at the final cut of Scrambled, a SXSW Grand Jury nominee for Best Narrative Feature, before its wide release in early 2024.
Through this event, audiences are supporting Hobart’s Run and the Colonial Theatre. Hobart’s Run is a non-profit whose mission is to create a clean and safe community; foster inclusivity; provide incentives for home ownership and property pride; and generate quality business development. The Colonial Theatre’s mission is to nurture community by celebrating the power of film and the performing arts to entertain, inform, and reveal meaning. This screening is a way of giving back to the entrepreneurial and artistic communities in the area.
SYNOPSIS
A broke, single millennial unleashes an existential crisis when she freezes her eggs.
Thirty-something Nellie Robinson is your quintessential eternal bridesmaid. Her weekends are spent hopping from wedding to baby shower to yet another she-said-yes engagement party, all while nursing a broken heart. Nellie distracts herself in the shallow dating pool of bartenders and Hinge bros, but when a doctor visit reveals her fertility may be in jeopardy, she stares down the barrel of a future without options and decides to freeze her eggs. The arduous (and pricey) process sends her on a journey of self-examination, confronting past lovers, dreams and regrets, and ultimately bringing her face to face with the one she’s meant to be with forever: Herself.
